John Wilson deu à equipe Mandale um bom começo na prova masculina sênior de quatro etapas com 9:15, o mais rápido do dia.
Seu clube perdeu então a liderança de Gateshead para Alphie Cook, de 17 anos, que cruzou duas vezes o Norte da Inglaterra em quarto lugar, na segunda etapa, antes de Josh Cowperthwaite e Max Creasey finalizarem a tarefa, vencendo por 22 segundos.
A competição feminina viu Gateshead se recuperar de desvantagem depois que Katie Francis, de Birtley, assumiu a liderança na abertura, com seu clube mantendo por pouco a liderança de Abbey Codling.
